Bangladesh govt urged to simplify logistics policy framework

Speakers at the fourth Logistics Infrastructure Development Working Committee (LIDWC) meeting at the Bangladesh prime minister’s office (PMO) held recently urged the government to simplify the logistics policy framework to achieve national growth targets and strengthen capacity in trade and investment to reduce cost of business.

The committee, which will work with the National Logistics Development Coordination Committee (NLDCC) formed with the PMO and its five sub-committees, stressed on reducing logistics costs and setting out plans and acting in a way so that costs can be gradually reduced.

LIDWC will extend all possible assistance to NLDCC and its sub-committees to ensure a holistic logistics sector, according to Bangladesh media reports.

Development partners may come forward to provide financial support to implement the work plan of LIDWC and the Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD) can coordinate with other relevant agencies.

LIDWC will form a structured and strong network among the stakeholders and develop a trade logistics tool kit and a logistics index.
